We came to live in Samos from the UK 5 years ago & started dancing with Kapetan Laxanas 3 years ago. It has been a fantastic experience for both of us, especially taking part in the last 3 festivals. Learning the dances of Samos & many other parts of Greece has given us a much deeper understanding of the culture and traditions of this beautiful island and other regions of the country. As well as being a great way to keep fit, dancing with the group has helped our language skills and enabled us to make many new Greek friends. We found it difficult at first to learn such unfamiliar steps and new rhythms, but with good teaching and lots of help and support from members of the group we are now able to perform many traditional dances. We are so pleased that we joined Kapetan Laxanas and hope that we will be able to continue dancing for many years to come.

Ich nehme seit 11 Jahren an den Tanzkursen und Vorführungen des Kulturvereins "Kapetan Lachanas" teil. Hier habe ich die Vielfalt der griechischen Volkstänze kennen und lieben gelernt. Für mich sind sie ein besonders "reicher Schatz" griechischer Kultur, der Generationen miteinander verbindet (und auch Nationalitäten, wie man ja bei mir sehen kann). Ich finde es toll, dass Vereine wie "Kapetan Lachanas" für den Erhalt und die Weitergabe dieses Kulturguts Sorge tragen. Birgit Feige
